The 2017 Porsche Cayenne

Ordinarily there aren’t many changes required when Car & Driver perennially ranks you as the #1 Mid-Size Luxury SUV. But Porsche is no ordinary brand, and the Cayenne is no ordinary SUV. For 2017 Porsche has upgraded the PCM infotainment system across the entire model range, comes with the same great reliability, and added a host of popular options (for not a lot of money) on the 2017 Cayenne Platinum Edition models.

2017 Porsche Cayenne Engines

The 2017 Cayenne models continue to be powered by four different Porsche engines.

  • The Cayenne is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.6 Liter V-6 that generates 300 horsepower.
  • The Cayenne S and the Cayenne GTS receive twin-turbo versions of the 3.6 Liter V-6 which generate 420hp and 440hp respectively.
  • The Cayenne S E- Hybrid is powered by a fuel efficient 3.0 Liter Supercharged V-6 that combines with an electric motor to deliver a combined 416 horsepower.
  • Finally the range-topping Cayenne Turbo models – each powered by a 4.8 Liter twin-turbo V-8 that generates 520 head-snapping horsepower in the Turbo and 570 horsepower in the exclusive Cayenne S.

The 2017 Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition

You expect sports car-like performance from Porsche, and the Cayenne delivers. You expect luxurious, well-appointed interiors from Porsche, and the Cayenne delivers that as well. What you don’t expect from Porsche is that this #1-Ranked Luxury SUV can also be the best value in its class – but that’s exactly what the Cayenne Platinum Edition models deliver.

The Platinum Edition is available on both the Cayenne and Cayenne E-Hybrid models and adds 20-inch RS Spyder-style wheels as well as gloss black exterior accents, 8-way power sports leather seats with Alcantara trim, Porsche logos on the head rests, and stainless steel door sills. Add the new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that graces all the 2017 Cayenne models – complete with navigation and real-time traffic information on GOOGLE® Earth maps - and it may surprise you how little it takes to upgrade to Porsche.

The 2017 Porsche Cayenne Models

2017 Porsche Cayenne

Starting MSRP $59,600

Well equipped with a 300 horsepower 3.6 Liter V-6 Engine, 8-speed automatic transmission, 18” alloy wheels, Bi-Xenon headlamps, 8-way power leather seating, and PCM with touchscreen navigation, and Porsche Traction Management all as standard equipment.

2017 Porsche Cayenne S

The Cayenne S upgrades the power plant to a 420 horsepower 3.0 Liter twin-turbo V-6, and also adds Park Assist, Power Steering Plus, integrated fog lights, and 19” Cayenne Design wheels to complete the performance upgrade.

2017 Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid

Starting MSRP $78,700

Contradictions are the signature of the Cayenne S E-Hybrid. Can a 5,180 pound 5-passenger SUV deliver a combined 47 MPGe and still accelerate from 0-60 in 5.4 seconds? Can a plug-in hybrid SUV cruise at up to 78mph on electric power alone while still achieving a top track speed of 151mph? Of course it can – if it’s a Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid. Driving is believing.

2017 Porsche Cayenne GTS

Starting MSRP $97,200

The Cayenne GTS raises the output of the Cayenne S to 440 horsepower, and adds a concentrated dose of racing enthusiasm. Standard equipment includes a lowered suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management, a SportDesign Exterior Package, Porsche Dynamic Light System, 20” RS Spyder Design wheels, Sport Seats with Alcantara accents, and adds a few touches from the Cayenne Turbo models – such as a full leather interior and Cayenne Turbo brakes.

2017 Porsche Cayenne Turbo

Starting MSRP $116,500

The Cayenne Turbo and Turbo S are Porsche vehicles in the purest sense. Making no compromises, these off-road capable all wheel drive SUV’s have the performance characteristics of a 911 Carrera S. A twin-turbocharged V-8 engine develops 520 horsepower on the Cayenne Turbo and 570 horsepower on the Turbo S - delivering 0-60 times of 4.2 seconds and 3.8 seconds respectively. Exclusive interiors and equipment like Porsche Torque Vectoring, Dynamic Chassis Control, and even Ceramic Composite Brakes deliver sports car acceleration, handling, and braking to the range-topping Cayenne models.
